A strong content and advertising partnership with Yahoo! is the foundation of The Newspaper Consortium. It is a partnership that taps the enormous reach of Yahoo! and the creativity and deep local market relationships of Consortium members.
More than 100 million visits to Consortium member web sites have been driven through distribution of local news headlines across the Yahoo! network. Links take Yahoo! users directly to full articles on member sites. Editors at Consortium member sites work closely with Yahoo! to identify new opportunities for exposing member content and brands on Yahoo!
Consortium members are able to offer local businesses innovative targeted advertising solutions that offer unique opportunities on their own sites as well as Yahoo! properties. Member newspapers are the first sites to use Yahoo’s innovative new advertising platform in a phased rollout scheduled to take place from September 2008 through mid-2009.
Local account executives can create ad packages targeted to specific audience segments, including likely consumers of specific products and services within their local markets. Local merchants will be able to target their messages to tightly-defined geographical areas in programs that take advantage of the strong environment of the newspaper web site and the popularity of Yahoo! Additionally, Yahoo! is able to offer its national advertisers additional inventory on Consortium member sites.
Many members of the Consortium also offer a suite of services from Yahoo! HotJobs that help match employers and job seekers. Newspapers are able to offer employers flexible tools and services to post jobs, add visibility to their posts, search resumes and reach passive job-seekers.
Newspaper consortium member sites use Yahoo! to power web search and carry text ads from Yahoo! that match content with relevant advertisers.
